four down, a lot to go

Just finished the "hardest" leg. I promise to pay more attention next time. We've heard a few thunder rolls, will try to stay ahead of the storm. Sugarbush is coming up! - Derek

Leg 1

Whew! Amy just finished leg 1. The leg course was adjusted, and shortened, because of the past week's rain. No rain in sight today. Just hot, hot sun.

Amy finishes the ~2 mile, hilly leg in 12:30.

Detour!

So I was 100 percent on schedule thru NYC - picked shirts up in Bryn Mawr @ 10am; grabbed JH at the corner of 24 & Madison at high noon. Then we hit a hiccup crossing into Connecticut and trying to get to 91...

Watters encountered delay too. so we ended up looking for food in Ludlow when I had hoped to be arriving in Burlington... three wood fired pizzas later and we are crawling up Route 7 behind a semi carrying cars...

I hate Garmin, tomtom & all other automatronic British know-it-alls.

We were "issued" these protective masks because it is manure spreading season in Vermont and well, methane is worse for you than ozone.

Welcome to our team's race blog for the 100 on 100 Heart of Vermont Relay. We started out as a team of St. Lawrence Alumni 30-somethings, but due to injuries, weddings, the Buddah Frisbee tournament and other conflicts we are now 4 SLU Alums plus Becky (big sister of a SLU '02 Alum) and Peter (not a SLU Alum, but a son of St. Lawrence County and ready to help out in a pinch). Our St. Lawrence components are: Sammy, Class of '00; Amy '99; Derek '96; and Dwight '96.
